Thank you for considering visiting the church. Services are held every Sunday morning at 10:30 am. There is no dress code, come as you are. Coffee and refreshments are available throughout the service. Nursery care is available during the service from September through May. Children's Sunday School takes place during the service for children ages pre-k (4) through 5th grade from September through May. This is a traditional service with some contemporary songs during the month.
Feel free to park on either side of the building. If you need a handicap accessible entrance, please use the south parking lot (closest to the green bridge). If you park in the north lot, you will enter in through the back door, through the hallway, through the social room and up the stairs to the sanctuary.
Every week, people are not the only ones in the pews. Teddy bears are there every service, hearing the Word read, listening to the prayers prayed, enjoying the songs that are sung, and hearing the sermon preached. These bears were placed in the pews with love and are there for anyone to take one to use during the service or to go home with them. These bears are there to be a blessing to you and others.
Meet the Staff
Our Pastor - Liz Jackson
Pastor Liz Jackson was born and raised in Red Lion, PA. She graduated from Messiah College in 2008 with a BA in Christian Ministries. During college, she had a life changing experience in Uganda, where she saw God at work in new and amazing ways. This trip sparked a passion for missions and outreach.
She obtained an MA in Counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary in 2012, and was licensed as a professional counselor soon thereafter. Pastor Liz worked in various mental health settings, from a crisis pregnancy center, a women's prison, a partial hospitalization program, and outpatient counseling.
While attending a bible study, Pastor Liz realized that God was calling her to ministry and this was affirmed by her pastors at UMC of the Good Shepherd in Lebanon, PA. Pastor Liz was licensed as a local pastor in 2018. Pastor Liz is perusing her MDiv from United Theological Seminary, and will graduate May 2020.
Pastor Liz has been married since 2009 to her husband, Greg. They have a daughter, Sadie.
Pastor Liz has been at the New Visions Parish (Blossburg UMC and Covington UMC) since July 2018. This is her first appointment. Pastor Liz has a passion for missions, for helping all people feel loved by God, and for those struggling with mental illness.
Our Pianist - Lisa Faughnan
Lisa was born and raised in Middleburg, PA. While a senior in high school, she auditioned and was accepted to play in a national high school band that toured Europe. Her family traveled in evangelistic work for many years, and also had a radio program. Her mother did the readings, her and her 2 sisters sang/did instrumentals, and occasionally her father gave a message at the end of their programs.
In 2011, she met David, got married, and moved to Blossburg. She previously was the pianist at Otterbein UM church in Sunbury, and traveled back and forth until it got to be too much. The timing was perfect - there was an opening at both Blossburg and Covington UM churches, and she has been there for about 4 years.
Lisa loves the fact that she is given the freedom to play selections of her choice at both churches. Every Sunday she usually plays a different musical instrument. She plays approximately 20 different instruments, and is always trying to find and learn new ones.. She likes to play a variety of styles, but prefers southern gospel music. She usually selects fast songs for the offertory, and the congregations really enjoy hearing them.
She can play both by note or by ear. She is much more comfortable with playing by ear, and enjoys putting feeling into her playing. God has richly blessed her, and she gives him all of the glory!
